Digital Story
There are more ways to show learning than standardized tests, essays, and other traditional projects. Students need to be able to show their creativity while also showing what they've learned. A digital story is a perfect marriage of these two standards. Working with Mary McKenna, Lauren Terriaca, Gary Martin Jr., and Nick Vavas, I've worked to create an original digital story based upon the events in Egypt during the Arab Spring. We've created the digital story from found content on the internet, as well as creating our own original content. This video was created for an eleventh grade U.S. History class during a unit on the Civil Rights Movement in America. In addition to the video, we've created a lesson using the Common Core Standards to illustrate the use of digital stories in the classroom.
